Australian Pink Opal’s formation happened over many centuries in a locality known as Mooka Station (which is why this stone is also called Mookaite) in Western Australia, in an area where a great inland sea once existed. Microscopic creatures known as radiolarians thrived in this sea. However, as the sea began to evaporate, these plankton-like animals opalized as they absorbed various minerals from the retreating waters, which were very rich in Iron oxide and therefore responsible for the stone’s pink color.
Turquoise's history as a spiritual stone goes back over 7500 years. Whereas Egyptians prized Turquoise as a Life Stone, Native Americans believed the stone brought protection to a rider upon a horse, and great protection in general. Turquoise was also highly revered in Tibet, where a stone was carried throughout one’s entire life and the material was exchanged as currency, the finest stones being more valuable than gold.
